My two year old Toyota Corolla smells like gasoline when I go to start it after it has been sitting for at least 8 hours. The smell goes away after about 5 minutes. Also, since I bought the car the venting system control seems weird. When I have the air blowing down only to the floor, air still comes out the dashboard vents. Also, in the winter, the windows get frosted even when on the windshield-only defroster setting.
I was wondering if this is one problem directly related to the venting/hvac system or if there are two problems going on here.

I would be most concerned about the gasoline.

Could be a leak or an EVAP problem, an EVAP problem will set an error code.

Car should be under warranty, have Toyota look at it and HVAC.
