I have a 92 Toyota corolla that will leak fuel from somewhere within the engine compartment on the driver side. I have been unable to pinpoint the problem. I have replaced the fuel filter and have checked that area a few time to see if the leak is coming from there. It will only leak if I run the car for 20-30 minutes, but will run and drive fine up until that point. She will start to studder and surge and bounce around like it is fighting to get gas, which I assume it is. After letting the car cool down for about 30mins or an hour, she will drive fine again. But she will seriously dump some gas out.I have been up and down the car looking for the leak and just cannot find where it is coming from. Any help would be great.

The lower fitting on filter is inverted flare, make sure it is not stripped, the top is a banjo and must have a copper washer on top and bottom.

Other leak sources are rubber hose to fuel rail, connection to fuel rail, and injector seals.

The lower fitting to filter is most common.

So the 2 copper rings, go on the top fitting? Or one goes on top, and the other goes under? Even before I did anything to the fuel filter, it was leaking out heavily. When I did change the filter however, I did notice only one copper ring was installed. It was on the top.

The top fitting has two copper fittings, one on top of connection and one on bottom. They MUST be there or it will leak.

Lower fitting is double inverted flare, it is self sealing.
