I drove through a pretty bad snow storm, going through some deep snow. Got home and had to drive through more deep snow to get into parking spot. Started to smell something burning. Turned off car and went inside. Next day, took it out and it was fine until I got it on the highway and accelerated to 50 mph and car started to shake badly. Stopped to make sure I didn't have a flat tire. Not. Tried going again and it shook worse. It was towed to a shop for a Monday repair (I hope). Any ideas what could be wrong?

Thank you,
Judy13027

It is possible you damaged the convertor, they can be damaged by an impact. If damaged they can overheat, clog up and cause many drivability, problems.

Other possibilities are that a connector was damaged (crankshaft sensor for example). You may have also damaged a motor mount.

Best to have it inspected and find the cause.

Thank you for your response to my question. Are you able to tell me if it is an expensive repair?

Thank you,

Depends on the problem. Convertors are expensive, especially from Toyota (anywhere from $500-$1100), but you could go through your insurance co. They are expensive because of the rare metals used as the catalyst (platinum, palladium, rhodium).

But have it inspected first, hopefully it is something cheaper.
