For about a week my car would sputter occasionally then one evening my car began sputtering and eventually died on me (I couldn't pull the hill). I let it sit all night. The next day I went to crank it and it fired right up. Did the same thing the next 2 days so I decided to have a mechanic look at it. He told me that I needed new spark plugs and fuel filter. Got'em. Still did the same thing. He said it must be the fuel pump. Replaced it. Still doing the same thing. It'll run for about 5 min without sputtering, then it's sputter, sputter, dead! A friend of mine seems to think that there's moisture in my gas tank, another friend says it's idling too low; what do I do?

Sounds to me like a bad distributor. Do you have spark at the plugs when it dies?
