Shakes or Wobbles problem
1995 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive

My car has been jerking alot lately when I go up hill or try to go faster than 50mph. Also when I try to start it sometimes it will just click a couple of times and then I have to wait and try again and it will start up. What could be the problem?

Hi csclmn,

Thank you for the donation.

The jerking is most probably due to misfiring of the spark plugs.

Check the spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cp and toror.

For the clicking during initial cranking, it could be a failing starter, ignition switch, battery or connections.

Check the battery condition.
Clean the battery terminals, clean and retighten if necessary.

When problem occurs, try giving the starter some knock and if starter works weel after the knocking, it is time to get it serviced/rebuilt or replaced.

With it jerking going up a hill there could be a couple of things. When was the last time it had a tune up? Or it just could be the fuel filter needs reoplacing. It not turning over could be that the cables need to be removed then cleaned, Next time it happens Have someone move the battery connections to see if it starts. Check the wire going from the battery to the starter. Make sure it has good clean connections. Have the battery checked to eliminate that as a cause of not turning over. Check all the connections.
