Need some help here.

I've narrowed the noise to either the upper cable to the speedometer or the speedometer itself. Honestly, I believe it is the speedometer that needs to be replaced. Toyota does not have a replacement for it and the "pull a part" places only has one that has 225,000 miles on it. Do you know where I might be able to find a new or used speedometer for my model?

thanks. Mike

May try lubricating the speedo cable first but you can roll back the used replacement cluster odo by twisting where the speedo cable goes in, just twist it opposite way and it will roll back the miles. Just roll it back to match your vehicle's actual mileage, otherwise its obviously illegal to roll back further. May also check sites such as ebay. Com for a replacement.

Should I be concerned that the 225,000 speedo might give up the ghost soon since mine did at 145k? Not much experience in this and I don't want to waste money. If this is a possibility, can I replace the instrument cluster with whole different one (non 1992 corolla) that would provide the same functionality of the 1992 cluster. If so, would you have a recommendation of who I might contact for this modification?
