My car is overheating and I do not hear the cooling fans kicking in anymore so where is the relay switch and is it possible to by-pass it

Disconnect the fan switch on the side of the thermostat housing (usually a white connector one wire), turn ign. On, fan should come on.
If not, disconnect fan connector and connect directly to 12V, if fan does not work, fan is bad, if fan is OK, then check fuses, if OK, then replace engine main relay in large fuse box.
You can go to junk yard and get this relayas well as other relay.
