Hi there,

do a wet compression test, add a table spoon or so of oil to this cylinder and do a comp teas, if the pressure comes up it will be a ring problem, if not valves or gasket problem, ensure that you have correct valve clearance as well.

Hi Pro

We tested the cylinder wet and compression was the same. The engine has overhead cam so valve clearance is good, the head joint was replaced. What else should I check.

Thank you

Do a leak down test, this will show exactly where the leak is, you do need some special equipment to do this, but if the comp is still low, it will be a vale problem head gasket or a hole in a piston, a leak down test will prove exactly where the problem is.
