1988 Toyota Corolla SPUTTERS

Hi my 1988 toyota corolla sputters when I put it in gear and put a load on the engine. It idles just fine but when I accelerate or go up a hill it loses power. I changed the spark plugs and airfilter and it runs a lot better but still has a bit of a miss when I put it under a load.

Check the fuel pressure if its within specs-if okay check and test for an excessive backpressure in the exhaust system-could be a partially clogged catalytic converter also the following-airflow meter and throttle position sensor-
