Hi mike213,

Situation looks bad.

If you have very dirty antifreeze, then maybe you still got hope, just overheated and the rusty coolant is being spilled out.

Otherwise oil is in the cooling system so the head gasket is blown. Pressure test the head for cracks if you take it out.

After we opened the hood and saw that brown stuff was coming out the container, we put new anti freeze and then the car drove normally all the way home about 3 miles away with out the engine overheating. But there was still brown stuff coming out of the container when we got home. And the car runs and starts good and there are no weird noises. What could the brown stuff coming out of the anti-freeze container be?

Hi mike213

I don't know what color antifreeze you have and it could be rust or contamination.

If they keep coming out and you don't have any overheating problem, get the cooling system flushed, add new antifreeze/coolant and replace a new radiator cap.

Check and see if the fans are working.
