Engine Performance problem
2001 Toyota Celica 4 cyl 95000 miles

I bought a Celica GTS yesterday, and after getting home I decided to go do some driving with it. The Celica GTS has the VVTL-i engine, which has the lift that engages at around 6000 RPM. Well when my car hits that point, it stutters for about a half second, then goes. I was wondering what causes this. I have a warranty on the car, so I want to make sure I get this fixed while covered. It runs great, and I have noticed nothing else wrong with it. I'm not sure if this is normal or not.

Hello, I had a '95 toyota pickup that did something simular. I know it is not a performance machine but I notice several stutters while getting on the interstate. It would do it 2 or 3 times and take off. It ended up being worn spark plug wires that were firing to the engine block and not the cylinder. You could not tell anything was wrong idleing. This may not be your problem but not a bad place to start.
Good luck.
