Oil pan drain plug drip

My mom's '86 Camry has a very slow oil leak originating from the oil pan drain plug. I suspect the pan metal or the thread was damaged at some time during an oil change. Does anyone know if it's a reasonable fix to make a thin gasket for the plug out of cork or some other material? The car isn't worth doing a major repair on.

Go to the dealer and buy a new plug and gasket. The next time you change the oil replace the plug
