My car has no power when changing gears

Hi.I have a 96 toyota camry. When I switch gears my car just doesnt seem to have any power. It whines a little till I get into second gear then does the same thing for third. It takes a little bit to get some speed. Then while im on the highway at certain times my rpm's will excel high then go down. I hope someone can help. Single mom who doesnt want to get ripped off by a mechanic. :Wink:

Your clutch is slipping -maybe a little adjustment might help on the free play if not -its time for the clutch assy to be replace-clutch disc, pressure plate, and throwout bearing
