Door latch

1995 camry 127000mi 4cylinder toyota. My driver door will not open. All the electric locks work, the linkage seems to be fine. I have narrowed the problem down to the latch that connects to the door post. Problem is I cant get the door open to remove the door panel. The only solution I can come up with is cutting out the door panel so I can get to the latch. Any advise would be appriciated.

Hi there,

First try removing the passenger side trim so you know how it all works. You should be able to make a rod to reach down from the top, use the other side as a template. Remove the belt trim, (Rubber strip that seals window and door) so you can get a little better access. Try this before wrecking the trim.
