2002 Toyota Camry My 2002 Camry needs help!

My husband took my battery off to clean the corrosion around the cables & after putting it back on & allowing the car to run for about 15 minutes the car died! He started it back up & after a second of hesitation it started but died again. As long as you keep the gas to it it will run but as soon as the RPM's drop below 1 it dies. It won't idle at all now. I drove it down the interstate & it seemed to be ok until I got off the interstate & slowed down to stop, as soon as I stopped it died. My check engine light has been on for a while now (about a year), we were told it was probably the mass air flow sensor. Could this be our problem? What could be wrong with my poor car? Please help!

Not worth speculating about what is wrong until you get the code information, find out what is causing the code to activate and have it seen to, start here first.

We had it hooked up to a computer & the only thing that even shows wrong is the MAF sensor. When the mechanic reset it the check engine light came right back on. Should I replace the MAF sensor first?

Hi there,

I like to test these items rather than just bolt on a new one and hope it's ok, as it can get expensive if it is just a loose pin in a loom plug, your mechanic "should" be able to do this. But often they just don't know how to or don't care to know. Ask if they are going to test the old one first.
