2000 Toyota Camry, battery doesn't stay charge

2000 Toyota Camry, 96000 miles. I recently had body work done on my 2000 toyota camry and now the battery won't stay charged. The battery is good, the car stays on when it get's a jumpstart, but once it's turned off it won't start by itself again. I was told that it needs a new alternator. Could this be true? Or could it be something else? Could the people that worked on my car somehow have damaged it? The work on my car was done on the front driver's side. Thank You

Have the battery load tested and the alternator full fielded-this will tell the tale between the two and check all the connections

You need to have the the entire starting/charging system checked with a digital tester that tests the alternator at different load levels and for ac leakage. Ac leakage is common on toyota alternators made by denso. Also have them check to see if there is a drain on the battery with the key shut off.
