Do you have enough coolant?
Are the fans working? Can you verify their operations?
When is the last time you replace the thermostat?
Do you have any coolant leak?
If you turn the heat in the passenger compartment, does that reduce the engine temperature (based on the temp gauge)?

Also, check for possible plugged up radiator.
