what is the possible cause of a knocking noise coming from underneath the car near the front wheel? This is mostly at slow speeds.

Usually is a bad strut or a issue with worn stabilizer bar bushings. Since it dont make noise in breaking I doubt it is the caliper

I also had noise on my camry when at a stop light/very low speeds. Shifting into neutral stopped the rattling.

At first I thought it was the engine mounts. Turns out it was the heat shield by the converter.

I yanked that baby off and now it sounds great. Although it gets really warm in the passenger seat now!

Haha, just kidding (about the heat)

Good luck!
