My check engine light came on. Autozone did their quick hand helled scanner and told me I needed an EGR valve. A mechanic did his scan and told me the EGR was fine but I needed a new EGR solenoid and EGR transducer. Should I trust that I actually need both of those, and how much should they cost? What will happen if I dont fix it and how long can I wait?

First of all thank you so much for your donation. If you could get me the code number's that you have that would really help me to answer your question. Also what model camry do you have?

I'm not sure which code it was, they didnt tell me. Its a 2000 camry, 4-door, front wheel drive, 4 cyl, 78000 miles. Its driving fine, and I havent noticed anything other than the check engine light is on (it was on and off for a couple of weeks before it finally turned on and stayed). I'm thinking it would be worth paying someone else scan it again. But assuming both the EGR solenoid and EGR transducer need to be relpaced, is $300 an acurate price? Thanks again!

The guy that gave you price's must have different name's for those thing's i posted the name's of the egr part's that are listed on mitchell on demand that all the moderator's like myself use to answer question's and those part's aren't there or he is calling them something else.Let's just do this go back to auto zone and get the code number's that your car has and let me know what they are.Don't worry about what auto zone say's you car need's.We will go from there.
