The taillight warning light comes on when headlights are turned on, none of the lights in the trunk lid are working, but all bulbs seem OK. Now battery is draining - if left more than overnight the car won't start. Suspecting a short in the trunklid harness but wires all appear intact. Any suggestions on how to track this down? (I.E. Where to check voltages, etc)

Welcome to the forum, that warning sensor should be left side of trunk. Most of the lites at the rear go through that sensor. Solid green wire should carry voltage for the taillites to sensor, when you turn on headlamp switch. Green wire with orange tracer carries taillite voltage from sensor to taillites. You can check circuits for voltage, to start.
