Just purchased a 98 Camry. Drives beautifully but when I go over a bump I can here a noise that sounds like it is coming from rear drivers wheel. Kind of like something is in the trunk. Need new ball joints, axel?

I got a '98 with 61,000 miles some years ago and it has the same noise. I'm not sure where in the rear it's coming from. Mechanic said some of the rubber bushings were worn. He didn't have the bushings, and he tried inserting some pieces of cooling line hose to tighten that up, but it didn't seem to help at all. Car now has 120,000 miles and the noise is somewhat more prevalent. The noise seems worst when the weather is cold, and is also more noticeable with passengers sitting in the back seat (or heavy load). I emptied the trunk and drove the car, but the noise was still there.

I'd love someone to provide an answer for this one - it's the only problem I have had with this car.
