I have inhereted a 98 camry LE and no keys. None what-so-ever so I was wondering how can I go about getting keys made and do I really have to replace the computer to make the keys work? And what is the copmputer called that I would need to replace? And does it come with keys or do they need to be programmed to match the computer?

Hi lmarti,

Thank you for the donation.

Without any registered key you would not be able to program any new keys. You would need a Toyota Scan tool to program any new keys to be able to use it on the computer, known as the ECM.

Call your local Toyota dealer for more details. They should be able to advise you on the correct procedures and how to go about getting the new keys.

If you buy a new ECM, it comes in automatic registration mode and programming can be done by yourself.
