MY NAME IS CHRISTINE AND I PAYED THE DONATION FIRST BEFORE I ASKED MY QUESTION. AND NOW IT SAYS TO DOATE AGAIN. I'M SORRY, I AM COMPUTER STUPID BUT I DID PAY PLEASE CHECK IF U DO NOT BELIEVE ME AND ANSWER MY QUESTION. MY QUESTION WAS THIS, I BOUGHT A 1996 CAMERY 108,000 MILES FOR 3,000 THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS DARK BROWN BUT DID NOT SMELL BURN'T. THE DEALER TOLD ME TO JUST CHANGE THE FLUID NO PROBLEM. WELL, MY NEIBHOOR TOLD ME THAT YOU CAN NOT CHAGE THE FLUID IN A TRANS. IM VERY UPSET TO SAY THE LEAST IT TOOK ME 3 AND A HALF YEARS TO SAVE UP THIS MONEY AND HAVE GONE WITHOUT A CAR FOR 5 YEARS. DID I JUST BUY A CAR WITH A BAD TRANSMISION? CAN I CHANGE THE FLUID? AND IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO OR CHANGE LIKE AFILTER OR SOMTHING TO PROLONG THE LIFE OF THIS TRANSMISSION. I PLANNED ON HAVING THIS CAR FOR YEARS TO COME. SHOULD I START SAVING MY PENNIES AND BOTTLES AGAIN AND SELL IT AS IS, OR ISTHIS CAR WORTH SAVING?THANK YOU ALL FOR CARING AND GOD BLESS U ALL I REMAIN GREATFULY YOURS CHRISTINE

Christine I hope you get this answer. You must have slipped through the cracks. This transmission fluid can be changed on this car and is quite inexpensive. These transmissions are nearly bullet proof. Are you having problems with it? If not, dont worry. The camry is a excellent car with a awesome track record of very low maintainance. Hope this helps
