I recently had my gas filler pipe replaced When iI got back gas it leaked all over my garage floor. I took it back and the mechanic stated the braided hose from the filler pipe to tank was defective. So I went to the dealer and got that part. When I gased up again I smelled gas and saw it leaking from the tank area. I took it back the mechanic jacked it up and now says it is leaking from the tank. The tank is not cheap. I did not have this problem before the gas filler hose was replaced. Before I decide to buy a tank I may not need can you offer any other suggestions. The toyota parts are not cheap. Any help would be appreciated. Could the tank have been damanged when the filler hose and braided hose was replaced?

Hi there,

There are a number of hoses that could be damaged, breathers, fuel supply, fuel return, filler If any one of these have been stretched they could leak. As for the tank, they are fairly robust and would not normally cause a problem from being slightly miss handled. I would be looking closely at all the hoses before fitting a new tank.
