I have a 1991 Toyota camry that has recently had the alternator replaced for the second time. At that time it was also recommended that I inspect the alternator harness. I didn't see anything really out of the ordinary, but it is VERY old, probably the original harness. When I start the car, the BRAKE and CHARGE lights come on, as well as the CHECK ENGINE light. Usually, they stay on until I shut the car off and then restart it. Sometimes I have to restart the car several times before they finally go away. Recently, restarting the car hasn't worked as often. Then, the last time I started it, they came on for a little while and then went out on their own. Usually, once they're off, they stay off. What could be causing this? Is my alternator fried already or is it in the ignition or the harness?

CEL coming on means you have a problem within the engine management pull the code/s from the computer by jumpering Te-1 to E-1 from the check connector.

Charge light coming on means the alternator is not doing its job-full field the alternator by grounding the field tab behind the alternator if the light goes off replace the IVR
