1996 Toyota Avalon car won't go into gear

Car wont go into any gears seams like tran. Is slipping
low gear works sometimes. Test drive: warmed up car a little bit drove it about a mile it ran normal and came to a stop, waited for light a min. Or two started to go and it seamed like the engine was missing running rough and then it went out of gear and non of the gears worked except the lowest one sometines.

I have the same problem I was told it was the engine computer look for it on car-part. Com find cheapest one replace. I was also told it could be the solenoids which are under the car inside the transmission, under the transmission filter easy to change get a repair manual from pdftown. Com 94 camry is the same car I am in the process of doing this but money it tight. Give it a try
