My Toyota 4 runner shakes when I break. This happens more extremely when going downhill but also happens when the road is flat. The shake is so bad it rattles everything in the car. It has been suggested perhaps the rotors are warped- havent had it looked at yet but wondering what other possible causes and possible repair estimates on common causes-thanks

Hello.

They could be right: warped rotors.

Check them and do the pad replacement once you have everything apart !

(I would recommend you to replace the rotors not to cut them)

Brakes its a fine line. Do not risk your safety!

Mine did the same thing. Replace rotors and pads. I think the rotors were $38 a piece. Replace pads right away too. Should solve the problem.
