1997 Toyota 4Runner Noise under the hood

Today, after going through a car wash, I noticed a squeaking noise coming from under the hood. It gets a little louder when I put the car into "park."

Sounds like it might be a belt, and if so, how important is it to get it taken care of right away?

Sounds like belt to me, when you turn the steering wheel does it get increasingly louder? If so its definetely the belt, it just needs time to dry out, take it off and dry it out or let it set, if it continues then you should look into it, if not no worries.
