1996 Toyota 4Runner ERACTIC IDLE

MY 96 TOYOTA 4 RUNNER WHILE START TO REV UP TO 1500 TO 2000 RPM AT IDLE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS IF I CUT IT OFF IT IS HARD TO START. I HAVE REPLACED IDLE AIR VALVE AND PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. IT ALSO SEEMS TO REV UP AND DOWN SOMETIMES

Do you have a check engine light On and when was the last tune-up?

Check and test the EGR valve, throttle position sensor, mass airflow meter and also for vacuum leaks to include a fuel pressure check-

I replaced mass air flow meter yesterday and it seems to be running okay at this time. When the problem orignally occured it was extremely cold. The temperature is a lot warmer now. I wonder if the temperature could effect this problem

Check and test the coolant temperature sensor and also the cold start injector

Yes temp could be contributing ohm check Engine Coolant Temp sensor top rear of engine. see chart

ECT has Brown/Black and Green/Yellow wires

I DONT HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. BUT I GUESS BASED UPON THE AGE THAT SENSOR COULD POSSIBLY BE BAD. WILL CHECK RESISTANCE
