Engine Cooling problem
1994 Toyota 4Runner Four Wheel Drive Automatic

My truck over heated this morning, after all the steam was gone I added coolant. After adding coolant the truck overheated again. I could not go over 25mph. What may the problem be?

Could be cracked head gasket or cracked head, may be other things as well though such as faulty radiator fan, stuck thermostat or failed water pump.

My '94 had the same exact problem a few months ago. I couldn't find the problem either until I ran a pressure test through all of my coolant hoses and sure enough I had 2 cracked hoses. Once I replaced those, I replaced my thermostat because I didn't trust it since the car had already overheated multiple times. So try getting a pressure test run through your coolant lines and then replacing your thermostat, which is located at the front of the engine to the right of the fan in the engine block.
