Transmission problem
1988 Toyota 4Runner 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive 999999 miles

I have a 1988 toyota 4 runner and can't find the holes that are suppose to be in the dust pan cover at the bottom front of the transmission cover. Noway to get to torque converter bolts plus the sump of the oil pan is very close to the cover at the bottom of the trans cover. How do I get the bolts out of the converter? Thanks for your time and help

You have to turn the crankshaft to get to the 6-bolts on the engine side of the flexplate to demarry the transmission from the engine.

Do you have an automatic or manual transmission?

Automatic- if it doesn't have an access cover-you gonna have to drop the transmission

Hi, Thanks. I am replacing the engine and I haven't got everything hook back up so where it 4 wheel drive I think I'll pull the engine back out and make my own hole in the bottom of the trans plate. Thanks again.
