1987 Toyota 4Runner poor idle and backfire

We just converted the four runner from automatic to standard transmission. It sat for a year, and gas was bad. I told my son to drain gas first, but he didn't listen, and tried to start with bad gas. After draining and refilling gas tank, it started but will not idle, and at acceleration, backfires a bit. What is causing this. Bad injectors?

Might want to check fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter and pump. Also clean out the idle air control valve and test the TPS and airflow meter to incude cleaning out the EGR valve.
