I was replacing the timing belt, water pump, tensioner and pulled.

All had been replaced and torqued down to correct to specs. I hadn't rotated the engine in the opposite direction of its rotation as its an interference engine. I had the marks on the crankshaft and camshaft marked liked up correctly and was watching a video on changing the timing belt for this particular model and year and followed the directions exactly.I had spun the engine using the camshaft the the appropriate marks. I haven't torqued down the Cam-bolt yet, it was hand tight. I turned the engine on to test it, it ran very rough however I thought it was because I removed an engine mount. I replaced the engine mount and ran the engine again, it still ran rough however before I could figure out how to fix it the engine made a loud knock sound and shut off. The fuel pump primes and the starter goes however I cannot start the engine and the cam and crank shaft don't spin. I can manually spin the camshaft bolt without it spinning the Camshaft. Did I ruin my engine?

Hello,

Unfortunately it sounds like your engine jumped time and it is now seized up from the pistons and valves hitting each other and jamming. Usually when you check an interference motor for proper timing, you use a rachette on the crankshaft pulley and turn it over this way, so you can feel if there is any resistance, and then you can back it off and adjust your timing. Let us know how things turn out. Sorry.

Thanks,
Alex
