Got caught in flash flood. Car stalled, won't start. Mechanic got water out of oil, new spark plugs, air filer got it to turn on but this is a light ticking sound when car turns on- he has had it one day. Waiting for insurance adjustor to come- is my engine gone?

Well do what you wish we aren't magicians and can't hear sounds on the computer. If it's your cam follower your engine isn't bad just eh cam and followers if that is the problem but it depends on whether or not the bearings in the motor have been damaged or not which with the info you have given which is pretty basic and not specific leads to an answer that I gave. However you aren't satisfied so i'll push this along to get your refund.
