Thermostat removal

I need to know how to remove a thermostat from my van. And if I can still drive it for a couple days?

Here are the directions for replacing the thermostat which are specific to your vehicle. You asked if it is still okay to drive a couple days. I do not know the circumstances which exist. If the car is overheating, no. Let me know exactly what is happening and what you would like to do as far as driving. That way, I will be better able to answer you.

SERVICE AND REPAIR
Removal Procedure
Remove the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to Air Filter Element Replacement in Computers and Controls.
Drain the coolant until the coolant level is below the thermostat. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
Remove the radiator hose from the thermostat housing. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement - Inlet.
Remove the thermostat housing bolts and clean any sealer from the bolt threads.
Remove the thermostat housing and gasket.
Remove the thermostat.
Clean the mating surfaces.
Installation Procedure

Install the thermostat.
Install the thermostat housing and gasket.
Install RTV sealer (GM P/N 1052366 or the equivalent) to the thermostat housing bolt threads.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Install the thermostat housing bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. Lbs.).
Install the radiator hose to the thermostat housing. Refer to Radiator Hose Replacement - Inlet.
Install the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to Air Filter Element Replacement in Computers and Controls.
Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
Inspect the cooling system for leaks. Repair as necessary.
