The ignition got drilled out, replaced with a new ignition. Followed steps to relearn key and reset theft system. Everything seemed to work just fine, no theft light. Wait a few seconds and the theft light comes on, accompanied by a buzzer and the daytime light indicator flashing. I’ve tried almost everything. Please help.

Hi,

We may need to scan the can-bus to see where the problem is. However, I need you to try something.

Turn the key to the run position (engine off). Allow it to sit for approximately 10 minutes. If the light turns off, see if it will start. If it does, follow the directions below.

Let me know if this helps.

Take care and Happy Easter,

Joe

Okay, when I turn the key to the on position the theft light is off, car will not start and dashboard gauges not working. Then about 10 seconds later the theft light comes on, the DRL indicator flashes and an alarm sounds. Should I be checking the wiring in my lights?

Hi,

Did you only replace the tumbler assembly or the switch? The delay in power isn't making sense unless something wasn't put together correctly. As far as the light wiring, I don't feel that is the cause.

I did find a revised relearn specific to replacing the lock assembly. Take a look at pic 1 below. Try what it explains to do and see if that makes a difference.

Also, when you installed the new lock assembly, did you confirm the keyway between the tumbler and switch were properly aligned? See pic 2

Let me know. Also, let me know if pic 1 is helpful.

Take care,

Joe
