Theft deterrent

Is there a theft-deterrent that disables the vehicle from starting?

Hi,

There is. If it is causing a problem, there should be an anti theft light staying on.

Do me a favor. Try this. Turn the key on to the run position and allow it to sit there for approximately 10 minutes. If there is a light on, it should turn off after that amount of time.

After 10 minutes, see if it starts.

If it doesn't and is no light, what needs done is to have the CAN bus system. This new of a vehicle has a CAN system (controller area network). All the computers and modules are tied together via a few wires. By scanning the CAN bus system, it will identify any issue in the entire system. Here is a video that shows how it's done:
