The truck starts and runs just fine. Once I shift it into gear, it abruptly dies.

The truck has 357000 miles on it and the transmission was rebuilt at 288000 miles. It has been less than 70000 miles since the rebuilt transmission. My first thought was that it was possibly transmission related, but someone also mentioned the torque converter. I just want some basic information on where to start so I can call the appropriate people for the repairs. I don't want to have it towed to a transmission shop only to find out it wasn't the transmission at all.

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Yes it did it in reverse also. The problem has been resolved and it turned out to be a solenoid in the transmission. The shop I took it to also serviced the transmission. To replace the solenoid and service the transmission, the charge was $298.57 after tax for the parts and labor. I do want to thank you for responding to my question!
