I purchased a 1997 Ford f-250 4x4 three door short bed the seven lug three quarter ton with no motor. It had a 5.4 with the VIN L. I installed a 5.4 out of a 2000 Ford expedition with a VIN L and I used the engine wiring harness for the truck then I installed a ECT sensor in the intake. My problem is the temperature gauge in the dash is not working. I tried a different cluster and a neither ECT but no help.

Check the ground connection behind the driver side kick panel. This is a known problem because rust will form behind the ground. It's held on with an 8mm bolt. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.
