I have a 2000 type R hatchback with a b16b1. I was driving to the store and I noticed my speedometer and tachometer went straight to 0, then the radio cut out and my lights went dim. When I pulled into the closest gas station the car shut off on me. I waited about 20 minutes adjusted battery cables and it started up fine, second I began pulling out same thing happened. Thought it was a ground but I don’t see any corrosion or damage, battery is charging overnight on my slow charger, if it’s not that, what besides the alternator could I be worried about?

Hello, I'm Danny.

Yes, you should definitely test the alternator output. Here is a tutorial showing what is involved to test an alternator:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-alternator

It should be charging the battery form 13.5-14.5 volts with car running. Do you have a meter to test? If not most local auto parts stores like AutoZone can test for free.Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
