My car is a 1989 suzuki samurai, 1.3 liter engine with 55 000 miles.

recently I have had violent shaking in the steering wheel and the car feels like it's about to fall apart.

as per the mechanic, I had all 5 shocks replaced. This solved the problem for 6 weeks, but it's starting again. It usually happens when i'm in 4th gear and around 36 miles per hour. If I slow down and stop it goes away, but sometimes starts up again.

what else could it be?

Try another shop. Any shop can't nail this problem must be a parts changer and good in saying prayer. Good disciple of god but terrible mechanic. Try this. Make sure the next shop get paid for the diagnostic. We are mechanic. Lift ur car up and crawl all over it must get paid. Doctors, lawyers, account do. Why not us. Any other profession do but public don't expect us to becuz they like to believe we are psychic friend. Just standing next to a car and we gotta know the problem and tell em' for free. Now hold the shop accountable to their diagnostic. It should be something like ball joints, tie rods, pitman arms. Good luck and chk the credential of a shop 1st b4 u drop ur keys
