1997 Other Suzuki Models 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Sidekick idles very rough and dies when left in gear while stopped in traffic. Surging present when in park/neutral but engine is not as prone to stall. Stalling is worse if engine is under load at idle; using the air-conditioner.

Check for vacuum leaks, test the idle speed controller, throttle positon sensor and also check fuel pressure.

Could be the throttle position sensor. In front of the throttle body it has two small screws which when loosened, allows the TPS to move around. You can play with the idle to your liking. Hope it helps.
