Suspicious object beside drain plug

Today I went under my car and found something wrapped tightly with black tape beside the engine oil drain plug. There are also some oil leaking from the tape.

That is the connector for the crankshaft position sensor.

Someone damaged that wiring or connector and just tapped it up. That should be replaced so it does not leave you stranded somewhere.

You will need to replace the connector and the wiring right there. They make a pigtail that is a new connector and about 6 inches of wire for a permanent repair.

You can get the connector at the dealer for this.
