I just replaced the sunroof motor on the vehicle listed above, now it won’t initialize, and the slide and tilt buttons seem to do random actions. For example, if I do the “slide close” the sunroof tilts open. If I do the tilt close, it slides back but only just barely. When I do the tilt close, it just barely closes stand I have to keep pressing it until I get it all the way shut.

Hi,

There is a module that controls this, but they usually are very dependable. Do me a favor, take a look through the initialization procedure below, and let me know if that is what you are doing.

Next, and don't laugh, when you perform the initialization procedure, one of the front doors must remain open throughout the entire procedure.

Let me know.

Joe

Thank you, I will give this a try again. I’ve run through it a handful of times so maybe I just wasn’t holding it long enough. I’ve had the driver side door open each time, so maybe I’ll try with the passenger door open as well.

Hi,

At this point, we need to scan the can-bus. CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, the different modules are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them.

Here is a link that shows how it is done:

Let me know if that is something you can do or have done.

Take care,

I do have an OBD2 scanner but not sure if it is the same. I will have to look and see if this is something I can do.

Hi,

Let me know if anything shows up for you. If you have a basic scan tool, that is really designed to retrieve powertrain codes. However, anything is possible.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe
