Electrical problem
1998 Subaru Outback All Wheel Drive Automatic 8000 miles

My low mileage Outback (inherited from my mother) has headlights when on high beams are no better than low beams on my Civic. I have been to the dealer and a private foreign car shop, both of whom told me that there is no fix, that the cars electrical system will not handle better headlights. They also said the new Sylvania lamps might work but were short lived. Can I make this car safer to drive at night?

Ok they are right you can not handle higher wattage bulbs as the subaru electrical system is weak in this area. Now I must ask how do the lenses look? Are they clear or are they tan or gray? If you would like include a pic of the headlights so I can see the clarity of the lens.
