Subaru legacy sedan, 2lt, 71,000miles, 2002,

engine check light has come on, the car runs fine, with no loss of power or vibraitions. Tick over is also fine. Is it safe to drive? Or will damage occure.

Get the engine scanned. The engine light can be from a number of things from, it could be from any of the sensors, I had a engine light on a car I bought, I found out it was from a anti knock sensor after getting the part it took 5 minutes to replace.
