1998 Subaru Legacy slight bump?

When it shifts from first to second it bumps more than it does for any other gear change. Shifts down just fine. Does this mean my transmission will be going out soon? I also notice when the window is down that it makes a flushing sound when I accelerate like its expelling more gas than usual. What could this be?

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

I would get the transmission serviced and tested by a qualified transmission shop as they will have all the specialist equipment to address this issue and get the correct diagnosis, as for the exhaust noise you may have a partly collapsed muffler or cat converter and this is causing the noise, have this checked out.
