1995 Subaru Legacy Car won't Move in Reverese

My son's car started having this problem all of a sudden out of the clear blue. When it's put in reverse, it's just like Nuteral. When you put it in gear you don't even hear it engage like the other gears. We checked trans fluid, even added some. But it still won't go in reverse. Someone recommended changing the trans. Filter. Any thoughts?

Hi there,

You may have a sticky shift valve in the vale body ore a servo problem, you best get the transmissions line pressures tested, this is the best place to start.
