Electrical problem
1992 Subaru Legacy 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

HI my car sometimes refuses to start. It has happened about 6 times in the last 8 months. I turn the key and get a click. I'm not sure if it is the solenoid but I hear a click form the back of the car like the fuel pump energizes. The battery has a full charge. The starter has been replaced. The wiring connections seem to be good. The switch on the clutch pedal is working. I have tried wiggling the ignition key and put it in both ways to see if one side of my key was worn more than the other. One day we were stranded and waiting for a ride and I shorted the battery with the jumper cable just to see if the battery had a charge (it did) and the car started right after that. The next time it would not start I tried the jumper cable trick it did not work.

The car has failed to start in the driveway on a cold day. It has failed to start on a warm day after a bunch of shopping all over the place. Usually the car will start an hour or a day later and be OK for weeks or months. I am getting ready for a long trip and do not want to be stranded some ware. Any clues?

I have the same problem. It seems to be long drives on hot days that does it. Once the car cools it starts. If you ever get an answer or find an answer to your problem I would love to hear what it was! Wish I could help.
