I have a ej22 subaru motor 1990. My crankshaft has been wallered out by a loose crankshaft bolt where the gear and pulley were rubbing on the crankshaft. Ihave replaced the timing gear and crankshaft pulley along with a new keyway. My question is this, Can I mig weld the end of the crankshaft to make up for the loss then put timing gear with key way then pulley on. Will this work? I am aware of the front seal when welding and will use precaution.

Hi:
I question if it will work. My concern is balance. The crank needs to be balanced or you will have a vibration from the engine that will eventually cause other problems.
